Here we are with the first weekend of August and I am quickly approaching one month in the blogging world! Time just seems to fly by when either you are busy or having fun, or both. I like to think it is the both part. Anyways, if you have checked out my posts this week you can cheat and just click on the links below:
Life is Short – You Only Live Once
Choosing a Broker for the ROTH IRA
Earn Money Over 10 Times in a SINGLE Transaction
Now it is time to honor those other great bloggers out there! I try to keep this list short with just five, but I do tweet articles throughout the week as well. You can follow me on twitter @FranklyFrugalFI to see them as I find them. Also the blogroll is a great place to find blogs with great content as well. Anyways, the articles I want to highlight this week are:
What Would You Do With a Million Dollars?
This was a great hypothetical post from Dee @ Color Me Frugal. We all like to dream, so why not dream big and ask yourself, What Would You Do With a Million dollars?
Who Wears The Financial Pants in Your Family?
Maybe it is my age or just the people I am around, but I don’t seem to any sexism in who takes care of finances around me, but it seems to be an issue for Holly @ Club Thrifty. In fact, there are probably more women who I know than men… or some sort of really weird “this is your money and your bills” sort of thing. That I don’t get, but to each their own. So are you pants-less or do you wear ‘em?
Benefits of Dividend Investing
Keith @ DivHut put together a very good post detailing out the advantages of dividend investing. If you are curious as some of the reasons investors go this path check out some of the benefits.
Are You Just Treading Water?
Jason @ Dividend Mantra puts together a great post as to why you need to living frugally. If you want to be like the average American with a meager savings rate and just tread water your whole life until social security comes and saves you, then you are fine to live that way. But for those of us that do not want to tread water we need to decide which luxuries are worth saving and which are basically frivolous.
The Easiest Way to Early Retirement is to Fast Forward Life
Zee @ Work to Not Work had a great post about the logic of early retirement. The concept of our sometimes called “extreme” savings isn’t that much different than a person in their 50’s going “Oh $HIT, I GOTTA START SAVING!”. But for some reason, no one would think to question the lifestyle of someone in their 50’s hammering down to save, but if you are in your 20’s or 30’s this is considered odd.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I haven’t setup an exact posting schedule yet for my blog, but going forward I am looking to do 2 posts a week plus a weekender edition such as this. I know I have been posting more often as I have started this blog, but I want a schedule that I will be able to maintain long term as well.
Kipp,
Thanks for including my article. I appreciate it!
Hope you’re having a great weekend over there. Gotta love the weather in West Michigan right now, though it was hot yesterday walking through GR.
Best wishes.
Hi Jason,
You are welcome, I enjoyed the article. Yes it is warm but I did take a walk to the library earlier to pickup The Snowball, so now I have that to read! I hope you enjoy your time over at your sisters!
Kipp
Kipp,
Enjoy the book! It’s massive, but an easy read.
I’ll be posting pics of GR later this week, hopefully.
Cheers!
I can tell it is massive, but I didn’t get to starting it yesterday, I was purging my old files instead.
Thank you for including DivHut as part of your weekend reading list. Much appreciated.
You are welcome Keith! Keep up the good work!
Great roundup Kipp. I thought Dee had an awesome post as well.
Thanks Ryan,
I try to limit the roundups to 5 links that way it isn’t too big of a list. I did really like your post on How you Should Think About Stock Market Drops.
Maybe in the future I will have to grow the list a little bit more.
Hey Kipp,
Sorry for the delay on this but thank you for including me in your round up. Life has gotten pretty busy for me lately and I’m just starting to get back into a more normal routine, so I’m playing a little catch-up with a lot of the stuff that I let slide in the meantime! Anyways, I really appreciate the support!

No problem Zee! I feel a little behind myself currently as I have a book due back to the library a week from Saturday and I still have about 450 pages to read… It is Snowball, Warren Buffets Biography. It is interesting, but long, and I am not the fastest reader so it is eating up alot of my free time this week and will the next, so I feel ya.
